Day Trip in Dover: My Adventure on the White Cliffs
"There’ll be bluebirds over, The White Cliffs of Dover, Tomorrow, Just you wait and see" by Dame Vera Lynn.
Tomorrow, just you wait and see
When you think of Dover, the White Cliffs are probably the first thing that comes to mind. For me, they were my main goal, but my adventure to this historic town taught me that the story behind the cliffs is just as powerful.
My day started with a visit to the Dover Museum. I highly recommend it—the history here is incredible, covering everything from the Bronze Age to the Second World War. It really made the phrase "Tomorrow, just you wait and see" feel so much more meaningful.

After getting my dose of history, I headed for the cliffs. My first stop was the White Cliffs cafe, which offered plenty of carbs and protein for my long walk. My pastrami bagel sandwich and a coffee were the perfect fuel for the journey ahead.
The weather was great—a little too windy, but not enough to affect my trip. My biggest challenge was that my phone kept losing signal, but the path was easy to follow. I just had to follow the signs to my second stop, the lighthouse.
This is a short film of a perfect day trip to Dover, a video that captures the beauty of the White Cliffs, the charm of the town, and the feeling of a perfect day.
I took a 10-minute break there under the sunshine, and then I continued on my long walk to St. Margaret's beach. The path was mostly flat, so it was a very refreshing walk. After about two hours, I arrived at St. Margaret's, a small, peaceful beach nestled under the white cliffs. I didn't get any food, but I'm sure a tea and a sandwich would have been perfect there.
My Dover trip was a simple but refreshing walk. As a solo traveler, I learned the importance of having an offline map and telling someone your plan, especially when your phone keeps losing signal!
